The Grand Strand Myasthenia Gravis Support Group meets the second Sa****ay of each month from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. We meet inside the Lakeside Crossing Development Community Room at 140 Lakeside Crossing Drive in Conway, SC 29526. We share experiences and resources and discuss new research and treatments. There is no cost to attend.
Patients, family members and those interested in learning more about Myasthenia Gravis, a disease of neuromuscular transmission are welcome to attend. Please contact Beverly Watrous at [email protected] or 843-504-8063 for more information. For directions, please contact Poutre at 843-855-0076. We do not meet in July and August.
Myasthenia Gravis is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease that causes weakness of the skeletal muscles. Symptoms include but are not limited to double vision, difficulty speaking, chewing and swallowing, lack of facial expression, weakness of the neck and extremities and sometimes difficulty breathing due to weakness of the diaphragm muscle. Myasthenia Gravis means "grave muscle" in Latin.
Unfortunately, I may not be able to monitor this threat but please refer to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America website for further information.
